The Longwood Gardens is a huge historic park that boasts of over 1,077 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, in the Brandywine Creek Valley. There is no surprise that this place is a very popular location for photographing weddings and engagement sessions. From its exquisite greenhouse with the most exotic and rare plants and greenery, majestic fountains and a waterfall to the more intimate woody trails, fields and hills.
We took this photograph of the bride and groom inside the Longwood Gardens greenhouse. There was some beautiful and bright ray of sunlight piercing through the glass ceiling that instantly caught our eye. We placed our couple right by the edge of the pool in order to have their faces properly lit for and also to have their bodies reflected in the water. It was great to see all the compositional elements coming into places just as we wanted it. I especially love the vivid contrast between the foreground plant and the other one lit by the bright sun and reflected in the water. It looks sort of three-dimensional perspective.
There was no external lights used to create this photograph. Natural light only, coming from the glass ceiling.
